1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using WildCamp ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms at any time; we will notify you of material changes where reasonably practicable. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Description of Service

WildCamp is an AI-powered tool that suggests dispersed camping and wild camping locations by querying publicly available data (OpenStreetMap, terrain data, fire/smoke alerts, and regional land records: USFS/BLM in the US, Crown land and protected-area records in Canada). WildCamp operates in two modes:

  • North America Mode — dispersed camping on US public land (BLM and National Forest) and Canadian Crown land, including cross-border trips
  • Europe Mode — wild camping and bivouac spots across European countries

The Service is offered on a free tier (5 searches per month) and a paid Pro plan.

3. AI-Generated Content — Important Disclaimer

All location suggestions are generated by an AI model and are provided for informational purposes only. WildCamp does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or legality of any suggested location. Land boundaries, road conditions, fire closures, protected area designations, and access rules change frequently and may not be reflected in our data.

US Users

Before visiting any US location, you are solely responsible for:

  • Verifying current land status with the relevant authority — a USFS Ranger District or BLM Field Office in the United States, or the responsible provincial ministry in Canada
  • Confirming road conditions and vehicle suitability
  • Checking current fire and closure orders at InciWeb (US) or the applicable provincial fire ban notice (Canada), and the relevant agency
  • Obtaining any required permits

European Users — Additional Disclaimer

Wild camping laws vary significantly across European countries and regions. WildCamp provides general guidance based on publicly known rules, but this does not constitute legal advice. Country-level rules may differ by region, municipality, land ownership, season, and year. Rules change — a location that was legal to camp at previously may be subject to new restrictions.

Before visiting any European location, you are solely responsible for:

  • Verifying current wild camping rules with the relevant national or local authority (forest service, national park administration, municipal government, or landowner)
  • Confirming whether the specific location is on public land, state-owned forest, or private land — and obtaining landowner permission where required
  • Checking for seasonal closures, fire bans, or permit requirements applicable to the specific area and date of your visit
  • Confirming road and track conditions for your vehicle type
  • Checking fire alerts through local emergency services or national fire agencies

WildCamp does not represent that any suggested European location is legal to camp at on any given date. The inclusion of a location in WildCamp results is not a legal opinion or guarantee of camping rights. You camp at your own risk and responsibility.

General

Using an AI suggestion to camp on private land, closed land, or restricted areas is a violation of applicable law. WildCamp bears no responsibility for trespass, citations, fines, vehicle damage, personal injury, or any other consequences of visiting a suggested location.

4. User Accounts

You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

The Pro plan is available for $4.99/month (billed monthly) or $39.99/year (billed annually). Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You may cancel at any time through your account or by contacting us at support@wildcamp.io. Refunds are not issued for partial billing periods. Payments are processed by Stripe; WildCamp does not store payment card information.

EU/EEA consumers: Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, you may have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a distance contract. By signing up for a Pro subscription and requesting immediate access to the Service, you acknowledge that the Service begins immediately and you may lose the right to withdraw once the Service has been fully performed. If you have not yet used the Service, you may contact us within 14 days of purchase at support@wildcamp.io to request a refund.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use automated tools to scrape, bulk-query, or extract data from the Service
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit location data from the Service
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or circumvent usage limits
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

7. Intellectual Property

The WildCamp name, logo, and software are our property. Map data is sourced from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) and other open datasets — see our Attributions page. AI-generated text suggestions are provided as-is with no copyright claim.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WildCamp and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, trespass fines, or lost profits, arising from your use of the Service or reliance on AI-generated suggestions.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including EU consumer protection law).

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that suggestions will be accurate, that the Service will be uninterrupted, or that any data will be current or reflect actual land status.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Washington State, except that EU/EEA consumers retain the right to bring claims in the courts of their country of residence under applicable local consumer protection law.
